PrimeSCI! Summer School Holiday Science Workshops | ANSTO Synchrotron
Get ready for three days filled with hands-on holiday science for curious kids from Year 8 to VCE Year 11 at the ANSTO Australian Synchrotron!
Funded Places: A limited number of fully funded places are available for participants to attend the PrimeSCI! Synchrotron Tours and Lab Sessions, who would not be able to attend without financial support. You are NOT required to complete the Trybooking Registration form. Please complete the Equity Access form.
Science Workshops
Advances in scientific understanding rely on developments in technology and society’s needs. Students can take part in experiments using specialised equipment to illustrate concepts in physics of interaction of light and energy, nuclear physics, radioactivity and dark matter.
The program also includes a tour of the Australian Synchrotron where particpants will learn what makes the facility so unique - a rare chance to see this world class facility. (2.5hrs)
Years 9 - 10
(Topic taught at Year 9/10 curriculum level)
How do particle accelerators work? Curious about the Synchrotron research being conducted locally? These questions and more will be answered in the hands-on physics lab session where students can take part in experiments using specialised equipment to learn about the behaviour of electrons in electric and magnetic fields.
The program includes a tour of the Australian Synchrotron where participants discover the important research outcomes that have been achieved over the years. (4.5 hrs)

Enrolment fee
- $39.50 per child for each 2.5 hour workshop (plus $0.50 Trybooking Fee)
- $55.00 per participant for 4.5 hour program (plus $0.50 Trybooking fee)
