Guaranteed real industry experience

At Swinburne, your education is more than reading; it’s doing.

It’s Work Integrated Learning (WIL) in the form of placements, internships or industry-linked projects, and it’s guaranteed in all our bachelor degrees.

It's guaranteed industry immersion, from day one, for all our vocational students – check out our Future of Work Lab!

WIL gives you the confidence, skills and real industry experience you’ll need tomorrow, today.

  • Professional Degrees

More than a standard bachelor degree, a Professional Degree is a premium university experience you’ll graduate from having completed a 12-month full-time work placement.

  • Placements

Upgrade your degree and employability by immersing yourself in a professional organisation for a 6- or 12-month full-time paid placement.

  • Internships

Connect your studies and professional practice with a part-time internship at a highly regarded organisation over a semester, or Summer Term.

  • Industry-linked projects

Respond to an industry brief, solve a thorny industry problem, or get hands-on with the tools and methods used in your field of study.

  • Accreditation placements

In some education, engineering, health and law degrees, work placements are a built-in requirement, providing you with vital hands-on experience in your discipline.

  • Overseas study tours

Take your degree around the world for academic credit. Overseas study tours give you a global perspective on your industry.

  • Future of Work Lab

As a Swinburne vocational student, your studies are all about hands-on learning and experiencing the real world of work. Practical skills you need for your career path, which is why we've created the Future of Work Lab – a tech-enabled digital (and physical) collaborative platform where as a vocational student, you'll get another chance to experience the world of work, problem-solving alongside industry, teachers and peers.
