Bendigo Bank partnership
Swinburne and Bendigo Bank are working together to create positive economic and social impact. Find out more about what the partnership involves, what we have achieved so far and what lies ahead.
Bendigo Bank is proudly part of the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group. The origins of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank began more than 160 years ago in two great Australian communities: Bendigo in Victoria and Adelaide in South Australia. Each started out as building societies, driven to help Australians buy their own home.
Swinburne and Bendigo Bank joined forces in 2019 to open Community Bank Swinburne, an initiative reflecting our shared commitment to creating social and economic impact. Banking profits are invested into the Swinburne community and we can offer banking discounts and benefits to staff, students and alumni. The partnership has since blossomed through the addition of professional placements and co-development of finance study units.
Swinburne and Bendigo Bank will continue to look for ways to collaborate further through research and industry engagement.

In 2019, Bendigo Bank opened Community Bank Swinburne. The initiative invests banking profits back into the Swinburne community and offers banking discounts and benefits to staff, students and alumni.
In 2019, Swinburne and Bendigo Bank co-created and launched the Master of Financial Technologies (FinTech). This first-of-its-kind postgraduate course is delivered through Swinburne’s Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship (AGSE). The degree teaches students to apply technology concepts, critical thinking and problem-solving methodologies in financial contexts.
This partnership allows for Swinburne students to participate in a 12-month paid professional placement at Bendigo Bank. These placements provide valuable industry experience for the students as well as fresh insights and perspectives for the bank staff. Our first placement student was hired for a full-time position, Communications and Engagement Manager, at the completion of their placement.

Bendigo Bank regularly hosts panel discussions and seminars to help educate Swinburne staff and students on financial topics such as home loans and property prices.
