Prepare for your undergraduate degree in three simple steps.
Step 1: Get inducted
Kick things off with your course induction, also known as the First Class. It’s essential you attend this key event. Find your study area to get your session details and to RSVP.
Tip: Check the course list to confirm you're in the right place and if you're commencing a double degree, you may need to attend two course inductions.
Don't forget to also register for your dean's welcome to Swinburne event, which is different to your induction.
There is also a welcome and briefing for international students, where you'll get all your must-have information – welcome to Melbourne!
Step 2: Connect
Starting uni can be intimidating, but there’s no need to go it alone. There are plenty of ways to connect to people with similar interests and backgrounds outside of your course.
Take a stroll along John Street to check out the student clubs on display, find out about the peer mentoring program and learn about Swinburne Student Union. If that all seems like a bit much, head to the Student Ambassador FAQ booth and ask a current student how they navigated their first days at uni.
Step 3: Explore
This is your campus now. Get to know the place and make yourself at home by joining a campus tour. They’ll be departing every 15 minutes from the entrance to the Library on John Street.
Want to get stuck in early? Check out our popular Student Essentials Program, which runs 19–20 July. It offers you the chance to get ahead by giving you the skills and resources needed to succeed at uni.
All set? Let’s go.
