Swinburne Library has an extensive range of material you can use to supplement your course content. Many resources are online and can be made available to students on and off campus.
Ebooks
- Search the library to find ebooks to use as required or recommended reading.
- Our page on finding and using ebooks lists ebook databases by subject. To find out if your chosen textbook is licensed for use as an ebook, contact your liaison librarian.
- You can also consider using an open textbook.

Journal articles
- Search the library to find journal articles to set as required reading.

- If a journal article you want to recommend is not available online, contact the Subject Materials Service.
Databases

TV, video and audio

Images
There are a number of sources you can use to find licensed images for educational use:
- Creative Commons includes many images licensed for public use under a CC licence, provided credit is given to the creator and source. Always check the licence on an image to ensure it is free to use.
- Flickr includes photos uploaded by users, with many (but not all) licensed for public use, provided credit is given to the creator and source. Always check the licence on an image to ensure it is free to use. Flickr Commons includes images from international photography archives.
- Pixabay includes more than a million royalty-free stock photos, released under a Creative Commons CCO licence.
- Wikimedia Commons includes public domain and freely licensed images (plus sound and video). Images are free to use provided credit is given to the creator and source.

Copyright

Linking to online resources
The Library has many online resources (such as databases, journals, books and articles) that you can use to enhance teaching and learning.
If you're just creating a link, you don't need to ask for permission and you don't need to worry about copyright. To ensure your links will work on and off campus, simply follow the instructions for linking to library resources.
If you want to link to an article that is only available in hard copy, you can request this through the Subject Materials Service. Staff are not permitted to copy and upload articles or excerpts to Canvas themselves.
