Study tour overview
This is an Engineering study tour to the United Arab Emirates (mainly Dubai and Abu Dhabi) where we will visit industrial, government organisations and universities.
You will have the opportunity to attend workshops and make site visits to major companies (ADNOC, MASADR, SHAMS, Mubadala, Medical Centres) The study tour will also include visits to historical and cultural sites.
This study tour has been running for the past 3 years (prior to the pandemic) and had extremely positive feedback from students. This tour will introduce you to a global perspective of engineering in terms of manufacturing, sustainability and management and will give you an opportunity to understand the Middle Eastern culture and the economic driving forces in the region.
Highlights / tentative itinerary
We will visit headquarters of major corporations in the UAE and attend cultural events. Major corporations/sites may include:
- Abu Dhabi National Oil Company
- Mobadala
- Medical Facilities in Abu Dhabi
- MASDAR
- Shams
- Academic Institutions
- Barakah Nuclear Power Plant
- Cultural Sites in UAE

Eligibility and selection criteria
All Engineering undergraduate students in their 3rd or 4th year. This tour will count towards 4 - 6 weeks of professional exposure (in EAT20008). Preferences will be given to students who seek to complete their 12 weeks in EAT20008.
Program cost includes:
- Accommodation
- Breakfasts
- In-country transport (where practical)
- Welcome and farewell dinner
- Travel insurance (subject to eligibility)

- Visa (if required)
